A long time ago the Jewish people had a very particular custom of great importance whenever they discussed transferring rights, surrendering, releasing, and being submissive.

It was a symbolic act but at the same time a literal act which had to be fulfilled as a legal act and it consisted of taking off a shoe at the moment of closing a business deal.

This act showed that the person who was surrendering his shoe was transferring his rights of whatever he owned to the person who was receiving the shoe as a guarantee pledge.

I bring this up after having read Joshua 5:13-15 that talks about what happened to Joshua before conquering Jericho.

God appeared to him and the first thing he said to him was: “Take your sandals off your feet!” In other words: “Joshua, you have been chosen as a leader to lead Israel to enter and take the land where milk and honey flows.

Nevertheless, I need to know is you are really willing to do what I am asking you to do.

Are you willing to surrender your leader rights and allow me to be in charge of all your ways, Joshua?

Are you willing to take off your sandals?”

Joshua was versed in war, military and government strategies, perhaps some people thought that he was ready to do what he was asked to do, but there is only one truth: If God is not in charge, everything we attempt to do under our own nature and thought will be in vain.

The question for you today is: “Are you willing to take off your shoes and surrender completely to the Lordship of Christ in your life?”

God always arrives JUST IN TIME
