This letter written by the apostle Paul from prison, is addressed to a great friend named Filemon to whom Paul had preached the good news, Filemon had become a church leader showing that his life had been changed, yet there will come a greater challenge where the faith that he preached would be tested in a decision that he had to make and that came from an unfinished business from his past.
On the other hand, Paul mentions in the letter another person who he had met in prison and who had also received Jesus in his heart and was now Paul’s assistant in the same prison.
This man was called Onesimo, a boy who ran away from the house where he served and worked without being released by his master, that is, he also had a pending issue to resolve and the time had come for Onesimo to put into practice what I had learned.
Faith without works is dead, that is, if we preach Jesus, we must live as he lived because we have received his life in us, this is not something that happens in our own strength, but by his grace and love operating in us, the Life will bring difficult situations, what we have preached and believed will be put to the test to see if there really was a true repentance or if it was just something for now.
A real change remains no matter what.
Perhaps you will say that these two people who knew Pablo have to do with what we are talking about, because, very much, these men knew each other, Filemon was the master of onesimo, now you understand?
Onesimus had to see Filemon again to ask for forgiveness and Filemon should accept him as a brother in faith and not as that thief who ran away from his house without being released.
The processes of life are going to prove how strong our faith is and if we are willing to show that true repentance.
Would filemon forgive onesimo or would he be angry with Pablo for asking forgiveness for Onesimo?
What would you do?
Remember that it is already an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth …
God always comes RIGHT ON TIME
