Keeping your wrongdoings to yourself instead of confessing them may be harmful to your spiritual health. Unconfessed sins become a huge burden that ultimately finishes you off.
David understood this, hence, he opted for true repentance which led him to confess his sin in front of God and was able to experience true freedom.
In the book of Proverbs, the Bible advises us to confess our sin and draw away from it to attain mercy, because he who covers it up, in other words, who does not acknowledge it, attracts shame and destruction to himself, because sooner or later, what it is hidden will come out to the light.
Today, you have the opportunity to confess and be free. God will always be willing to help you.
